Five ways to make a small en-suite feel twice the size
Wall-hung everything, one tile on floor and walls, a niche instead of a shelf. None of it costs much, and all of it works in a room under 3 m².

Most en-suites we are asked to redo are under three square metres. You cannot make the room bigger without taking space from the bedroom, but you can make it feel it.
Hang everything on the wall
A wall-hung WC and basin show the whole floor. The eye reads floor area as room size, and a clear floor is also far easier to clean. A concealed cistern frame adds about £280 over a close-coupled WC.
Use one tile on the floor and the walls
One large-format tile running from the floor up the shower wall removes the line where one surface stops and the next begins. It is the single cheapest way to make a small room look designed.
Swap the shelf for a niche
A recessed niche in the shower wall holds every bottle and sticks out nowhere. Framing one costs about £180 when the wall is open anyway.
One glass panel, no door
A fixed panel lets light through, costs less than an enclosure and has no runners to clean.
Light it from two places
A ceiling downlight plus a lit mirror removes the shadows that make a small room feel like a cupboard.
