A family bathroom with a bath that also works as a shower
An old corner bath and a leaking tray replaced by a full-length bath with a proper shower over it, a wall-hung WC and one tile running round the room.
The family had a corner bath nobody fitted in and a separate shower tray that had been leaking into the kitchen ceiling for a year. They wanted fewer things in the room, all of which worked.
When the old tray came out, the boards beneath it were soft. We replaced two joists’ worth of flooring, overboarded the whole room and tanked it before anything else went in. That was priced at survey as a possible extra and turned out to be needed; it added £640 to the bill.
The numbers
A medium Signature bathroom is £15,400 on our price list. With the underfloor heating, the towel rail and the floor repair, the final bill was £16,900. Three weeks on site, with the WC reconnected every evening.
